My painted constructions inhabit a space between painting and sculpture. They are tumbled together muscle memories of surfaces, textures, colors and objects. Paint functions as both image and material: a skin that wraps, conceals, and defines the geometries beneath. Planes overlap, edges interrupt one another, and fragments of recognizable forms emerge and recede. While I admire the steadiness of the Golden Mean and Fibonacci's Curve, my own interest leans more toward chaos: How many ways can a form be put off balance and keep the sense of the whole? I long for odd pairings of materials, irregular geometries, and the underlying armature of rhythm that is how we feel art.
A longtime New York resident, I received a BFA in painting from Kent State University and did two formative years at The New York Studio School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture. My work has been exhibited at in a 4-person show and a group show at Carter Burden Gallery, and in group shows at Amos Eno, Zürcher (Women of Spirit), Sentient Furniture, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists, Henry Street Small Works show, Grey Art Gallery Small Works, as well as Greenpoint Open Studios from 2019- 2026 and Gowanus Open Studios from 2016 to 2018
